A New Start
Shout-out to Tobias Fünke for the subject line of this email (Arrested Development Season 4 | Episode 5).
Like the first sip of this morning’s coffee, a feeling of newness can come in the form of another trip around the sun, a new room in an old apartment, or even just an especially bright day.
And now that it’s the middle of the year, it’s time to start afresh. Why wait for 2020 for a new day?
Here’s three fresh and hot releases from 2019:
Archangel by Essáy
If someone were to play this in my ear while I enter a REM sleep cycle, I would probably dream about waking up in the middle of a warm, sunny field of lavender in Provence during sunrise.
You Used to Love Me (feat. Denitia) by Quantic
Quantic’s work transverses so many different kinds of Spotify playlists, but this is particular is good for it’s all-around pleasability. It’ll satisfy your friend who likes electronic music AND your friend who needs a little bit more soul AND your friend who just need groove in the beat.
SF fans — catch Quantic at the Midway’s block party on Aug 3rd with Bonobo and TOKiMONSTA.
In and Out by ANIMA!
In the making of this post, I listened to this entire album several times over trying to find the most representative song. Songs are all over the spectrum of folk and pop, all the while being indubitably electronic(a). But my favorite part? The lyrics. My second favorite part? 3:00 minutes in.
Happy listening,
Angela
